Hello!

Author: KrittaBug! | Filed under: Me!

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven’t brightened up my boring blog for a while. I’ve been pretty sick. I am really enjoying the holidays and am kind of not looking forward to going back to school, but I kind of am because it means that I’ll see all of my friends again! Yay!

So far these holidays I’ve done a lot of horseriding, we even broke my brumby Spinifex in! That means he is now rideable. I also got a new horse to ride. His name is Comet and he is a bay (brown) color and is a real sweetie.

Hopefully I will get back to my computer to type again soon. Bye!

Ergonomics

Author: KrittaBug! | Filed under: Computers

In IT we’ve been studying Ergonomics, which is about the comfort, safety and efficiency of people at work, or in my case, school.

The proper posture.

The way you should be sitting at your computer.

Its been really important to learn about this because we’ve learnt how to use a computer properly and keep safe when using a computer by…

  • Keeping our arms at a ninety degree angle when typing.
  • Not pounding the keys, touching them softly or we’ll hurt our fingers and our arms.
  • Not overreaching- it hurts the tendons in our fingers.
  • If possible, using a padded wrist rest in front of our keyboards.
  • Keeping our mice within easy reach, we don’t want to almost be falling off our chairs chasing them!
  • Keeping our mice on a level surface, their much easier to use.
  • Using a mouse pad with a wrist rest, it helps.
  • Making sure that the top of our screen below our eyes.
  • Looking away from our screens every so often so that we don’t get eye strain or a nasty headache.
  •  Sitting with both of our feet flat on the floor with our knees bent at a ninety degree angle.

How you should use a keyboard.

How your hands should be when typing.

Some problems that people can get by not using computers properly are OOS, which is occupational overuse syndrome and is caused by overusing the computer, and RSI, which is repetitive strain syndrome and is caused by straining things like your hands, from typing incorrectly.

Our school class room could be setup differently to help us by having adjustable chairs to make it easier for other students to use the computers safely and properly.

Where your mouse should be.

How your mouse and keyboard setup should be.

I think that my computer space at home really needs some improvement. I only have a laptop to use, and I find that I’m really slack in the way I use it because I can take it any where. I could improve the way I use my laptop by actually sitting at a table instead of sitting on my bed. It’ll be a lot healthier for me!

Christmas Holidays are here!

Author: KrittaBug! | Filed under: Me!

Hi everyone! I can’t believe the holidays are pretty much here! I travel back to Victoria from rural South Australia every year to see my grandparents. Although I sometimes dread going, I always enjoy myself when I get there. It means shopping in the shopping centres and seeing my cousins which is so much fun! I hope everyone has a very happy Christmas and New Year! See ya next year!

I love all animals. In fact, I don’t have a choice in that. I’ve grown up around animals and in a way they’re a part of me. My favourite animal is the horse. I’ve had horses around me all my life, since before I can remember. On our property we have a heap of deer, water buffalo, goats, cattle, and of course, horses. I think that I’m really lucky because we have around a hundred horses and I can choose to have any of them and I can work around them. I know that this is a dream that many girls have, but can never live. Most of our horses are brumbies and ex racehorses. I love watching them run across the hill at the top of the yard outlined against the sky, just before a storm. It gives me a real sense of freedom.
